Flaps: Flaps
are mounted on almost every military and civil airplane. They are located
on the trailing edge of a wing to increase the amount of lift (see definition
lift) during
take-off. During landing the flaps are also activated to increase as much
as possible drag to decrease the velocity. Flaps can also be located on
the leading edge. The types of trailing edge flaps are; pain flap, splitted
flap, slotted flapand fowler flap. The types of leading edge flaps are;
krueger flap and variable camber flaps.
Slotted flaps are also used as double-slotted or triple-slotted flaps.
More slots results in a increasing adjacent of the boundary layer. However,
more slots will result in more weight. That's why designers will limited
the amount of slots.
